City of Irving
Irving believes in business, and it works hard to recruit new and relocating companies, encourage new business growth, and support the success of existing ones. The City’s efforts speak for themselves: This city of 200,000 is home to more than 8,000 companies, and boasts offices of over 30 Fortune 500 companies, including the international headquarters of four.
The City of Irving knows that strategic infrastructure development spurs quality growth — and puts its money where its commitment is. The transit opportunities in Irving come from an unprecedented $60 million pledge to bring a DART light-rail line through Irving and Las Colinas. Irving also created a tax increment finance district to reimburse developers for designated infrastructure costs. The result: a boom in transit-oriented, New Urbanist growth — years before the rail’s 2011 arrival.
Irving has one of the lowest tax rates in the D/FW Metroplex, plus an incentive plan than can reduce city taxes by 30 percent or more for up to 10 years. A wide range of incentive programs — from the local to the state level — strengthen business growth in Irving. And the City’s Economic Development Team works to ensure that each new, relocating or expanding company gets the maximum support from the programs available.
Fast Tracking Transit Oriented Development
Irving is one of the few cities in the U.S. that provides “one stop” service to facilitate business construction. Irving’s Development Coordinator works with growing and relocating companies to simplify the permitting and zoning processes by providing one point of contact and hands-on support.
TOD Variances & Zoning
Developer-focused Transit Oriented Development and design standards are now part of Irving’s zoning plan. Irving also understands that business growth requires a certain amount of flexibility. In order to create the highest-quality value-based transit developments, variances are also possible.
